The Balancing Act: A Christian Woman's Journey in Entrepreneurship, Career, Family, and Life

Answering the call: Hello! Women are pursuing dreams that previous generations could only imagine. The modern Christian woman entrepreneur is living proof of the following scripture "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). However, balancing entrepreneurship, a full-time job, and family life while staying grounded in her faith is no easy feat. This article will explore the unique journey Christian women experience while carving out successful paths as entrepreneurs, devoted mothers, and career women, while finding the grace to stay connected to God along with my personal experiences to provide a more in depth view.

The Call to Entrepreneurship

For many Christian women, the journey into entrepreneurship is as much as a calling as a career choice. Women who often feel inspired by their faith to not only create businesses to generate income but to inspire and impact lives, spread positivity, and serve their communities. Whether it's like yours truly, a faith-based clothing line, or maybe it's a consultant firm aimed to empower women, or a product that uplifts the buyer. This Christian woman is pursuing a mission that is tied deeply to her beliefs.

Here I will share bits of my experience. I've always been a writer, it has been a joy and a release. In July of 2019 when I rededicated my life back to Christ I heard the Lord call me three times. I was asleep and woke up and said yes each time. It was after that I began to receive downloads on starting a business. The thoughts, ideas, and dreams began to come and a desire followed. It was nothing I previously wanted to do. God is so good. He began to take me back to key moments in my childhood where I would mimic being a business owner, opening up a store and selling objects to my friends in the neighborhood. Then I realized, it was there all along. An innate feeling of knowing whose you are.

Starting a business while juggling a full-time job and family obligations is no small challenge. There are financial risks, long hours, and the constant pressure to perform on all fronts. Yet, as a Christian woman we feel like God has placed this ambition on our hearts, motivated to pursue our dreams with strong determination.

Balancing a Full-time Job and Entrepreneurship

Let's face it, the reality is that the sole source of income is not produced from the business the entrepreneurial woman started. The belief she has of the business replacing her income is enough to keep her going but what happens on days when she is exhausted and her fuel is running low. She cries and she prays and reaches for the one thing that can provide her the hope she needs. God's promises written for us in The Bible. While at times it may not be easy to read but because we serve a good God, he will bring into remembrance the things he has once spoken to you. At least, this is how it happens for me.

Balancing the responsibilities of a full-time job with entrepreneurship requires strategic time management and a tremendous amount of discipline. A full-time job provides the financial means of investing in the business as well as still being able to take care of the family's financial needs. Can you say early mornings and late nights. I reckon saying out loud one day, "God I am not built for this, because this woman needs her sleep". In this, we must learn to work smarter, not everyday has to be a long day. While we are balancing the many things, where is the placement for God. Is Jesus, in the picture? Are we studying our Bible? Are we seeking first the Kingdom of God?

When the pressure to perform at top notch on the job collides with the strides toward reaching a new level in our entrepreneur career causes much unwanted stress. What do we do? Remember Psalms 18:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior. Hiding The Word in your heart creates a lifelong life line especially when challenges arise. It does not mean you will not feel the emotions associated with the issues, what it means is, you know who to bring the issues too when they come.

The Importance of Family Support

A supportive family makes a significant difference for the woman pursuing what God has purposefully placed on the inside of her. She is the woman trying to balance it all and her family is the crowd cheering her on. Praying for her and at times being the voice of reason when she wants to give up.

Open communication is key! When you are experiencing a tough time, first pray about it, listen to God. Then talk about it. Let your family know the struggles and the vision as well as the things you are trying to accomplish. Be vocal about needing quiet time to work on projects so your family can assist with making sure you get the things you need sometimes.

Since starting my online boutique, my husband has been more hands on with the kids, taking them to practices or outings to give me some time to things for my business such as social networking and planning events. In October of 2024, I had my first event titled "Faith & Fashion". While the event turned out lovely, it was not without some bumps in the road. My husband was there to assist with setup and behind the scenes and my daughter was my little assistant. Including your family makes it all so much more rewarding.

Prioritizing Faith in the Chaos

How can we prioritize our relationship with Christ? The Bible tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God and all things shall be added unto you. Its all summed up to changing our mindset by seeking God first in all we do and to honor God's Word as truth. So you started the business, this is an act of obedience and a step in the right direction. Now we have activated our faith. As your dream becomes reality, do not diminish the time you spend with God to pursue the dream. In this case, it will become an idol over God who was the one who gave it to you and we should all know how God feels about making idols over him.

Real talk, as an entrepreneur who still works full-time, has a family and a bit of a social life, my flesh gets tired really quick but we have to fight against making God an option. He is our creator and the one who allows us to play out the story he has already written. I have to correct myself on this especially when those late nights go really late. Lately, I find myself coming to a stopping point, so I can be alert when I am spending time with God. I am so Thankful for God's Grace although I am not deserving, he blesses me with another day to make improvements.

Do you have spiritual support? Find a good church, its sad to say but let me say it again, find a good church. Join the small groups if your church offers them, attend bible study and or Sunday school. These all provide support and the connection and encouragement you need. Community is a necessary resource. As an entrepreneur staying grounded and connected to God helps you to grow spiritually. When God speaks to you, you are more inclined to hear his voice when you remain connected to him. Scripture says, "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me (John 15:4)".

Dealing with Guilt and Pressure

Take off that imaginary cape sis, you are not "Superwoman". The reality is you will not be able to attend every child's game, church event, or business social. As Christian women we dare to live out our faith with every decision and action but all it does is add more pressure on us. Stop right there you multitasker and take a break sometimes.

I used to feel guilty when I missed my son's game or taking my daughter to ballet practice or gatherings I was invited to. I had to prioritize going this place and that place. It can be tiring sometimes, but with a supportive husband he jumps in when I cannot bridging the gap. In the meantime, he fills me in on what I missed and I always remember to sit with my kids to hear their perspective on how everything played out. While it is not the same as being there I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes as they share. The guilty feeling lessens as I remember that God calls us to trust him and not to run all over the city or world trying to be "superwoman" but to operate with intention in the choices we make.

If you are a perfectionist, take a moment to release it off your life and be free in knowing that not everything will always go as planned. Ladies! Entrepreneurs! Women of God! Please give yourself Grace. God's love is not based on what we get right. We are flawed and this is why we need God simply because he said, when we are weak, he is strong.

Tips for the Christian Woman Balancing It All

Set Boundaries: When you set boundaries, be sure that family, friends, coworkers, and business associates respect them.

Practice Self-Care: Move your body. Exercising can help change your mood. Prayer can recharge your soul. Pay attention to what your body needs.

Lean on Your Faith: Staying connected to God daily helps you to stay focused on what really matters. Incorporate prayer, Bible study, and or worship.

Accept Help: Do not allow pride to keep you from getting the help you need. If a helping hand is offered graciously accept it.

Celebrate Small Wins: Girl, you have been working hard to so celebrate every step that pulls you forward.

Be Kind to Yourself: Things will not always go as planned. Do not get down on yourself about it. Remember to take a break but do not quit.

Finding Grace in the Journey

I want to commend the woman that has a full-time job, family, and operating as a entrepreneur. The journey has its challenges when it comes to finding balance. The Christian woman digs deep into her Faith and uses The Word of God as the foundation on which she stands. She knows when things are rough or smooth God is whom she puts her trust in.

If you are struggling with trusting God. Spend more time sitting in His presence so he can talk to you. Often times, we feel as if we can carry the weight on our own but Jesus said, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Releasing the heavy load over to him will help you to sleep easier at night. We as entrepreneur women strive for success but success will come when we entrust everything to God.

We are called Dreamers and Doers, Faith-filled women who are writing new chapters as we balance life and the call to bring forth what God has placed on the inside. Be resilient in your pursuit to find balance and always keep God as an active part of your life. Incline your ear to the voice of God and allow him to lead. I promise he will not steer you wrong.
