Trusting God Past Your Feelings and Taking a Leap of Faith!

Trusting God Past Your Feelings and Taking a Leap of Faith!

The push through to the other side is anything but easy. Your mind tells you to stop and quit before you do any more damage. Your feelings have you reeling, in a state of an emotional upheaval; when you just want to throw all your dreams and aspirations in the trash but, a little small voice whispers keep going. Then what? You keep going. You keep going even when it is hard, even in tears, even when you do not want to, you must, no, you got too. Are you going to trust your feelings or walk by faith? You know we are to Trust in The Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding right. Checkout Proverbs 3:5. This is the exact place where we decide if we will keep pushing or consistently get pushed back. Trusting God beyond our feelings requires faith, a surrendered heart and intentional action. Are you ready for the work?

Emotions are real but not always reliable.

We can cry out and physically feel as if we are dying. We can get a morphed sense of what we believe is happening and it could be the opposite. Currently, I am studying the Armor of God, and I am going deeper into the Belt of Truth. If we investigate the use of a belt it is used to hold our garments up to secure it to our waist. Around our waist is our abdomen which many would say stems from our emotions. Why? because when we experience any type of emotion such as happiness or sadness it affects our stomach area in which the belt is secured. Your emotions can make you unsteady in your faith. If we are dealing with a breakup we tend to not want to eat or we may binge on a carton of ice cream moving from one extreme to another. The Bible says, not to trust our emotions and to bring it to Him in prayer. Checkout Ephesians 5: 15-17 for yourself. We ought to be careful how we live and be led by The Holy Spirit.

The Danger of relying solely on emotions.

What is the danger of relying solely on emotions? There is extreme danger when it comes to relying on emotions. It can cause us not to grow and develop the way The Lord desires us too. It can stunt our growth. How come we are so quick to believe a lie about ourselves than to bask in the Truth of what The Word of The Lord says. I was guilty of this, but I can proudly say that God has delivered me from this and has challenged me to come up higher and I say to the person reading this to come up higher in Christ. We are not what the world says about us or what we say about ourselves for that matter. We are what God says about us. We are loved! We are Chosen! We have been redeemed by the Blood of Jesus! We are not to exist blindly, but we are too live how God calls us to live. Before God gave Abraham the promise, he made a covenant with him and with that were requirements. We are to live a blameless (innocent of wrongdoing) life and be faithful or I like to say loyal to God. We can not be halfway in and halfway out but to fully submit to God's will and His way. Are you fully submitted? Are you believing? We must have the truth on the inside of us. It is the only way we will survive and live the life God designed for us to live.

Faith over feelings.

Got Faith?! I say this because it is what will sustain us coupled with the Word of God. Faith without works is dead right? We must put our beliefs into action. I used to sit around wishing and hoping for God to move in my life and the reason He was not moving was because I was not moving. We cannot expect God to do all the work right. If Jesus had to carry His cross, then so do we. It was a part of all the work Jesus put in so He could come to that very moment when He hung and bled on the Cross for our sins. What was the work you say? Read Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Jesus healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, and raised the dead and more so, He sat and taught the Word of God to those who would listen. So, look Jesus put the work in and what makes you think that you would not have too? Yes, this is exactly what I told myself when I came to the realization that things will not just happen on their own.

Trusting God's Character and Promises.

Let us uproot the lies that keep us bound. You may ask how we would do that. Let us review God's character. When we go back into the Armor of God to dive into the Belt of Truth, tied into that when we review Psalms 119:160 God's word is the Truth, and we should take it as such. When we do that, it begins to replace all the lies we ever told ourselves as well as what people have said as well. How did I get there? I am glad you asked. Prayer and fasting! I was tired of the same cycles repeating itself. I would go five steps forward and then ten steps back due to fear which was based on the lies I kept reiterating in my mind. Through prayer and fasting God silenced the voices of negativity I had echoing inside. Songs of worship began to fill my mind and even now. There were about five songs the Holy Spirit led me too and the power of the words reenforced who God is in my life.

Stop it! Let go of controlling everything.

I can remember in church as a child during the congregational singing we were all led to sing "I surrender all". I believe we do fully embrace surrendering all until we understand what it means to surrender all to Him. Last year, I spent so many hours laying things down at the feet of The Lord. Things I had put before Him knowingly and unknowingly. I prayed and asked God for His forgiveness and let me say I am thankful we serve a God who not only forgives our sins but who sent His only begotten son to die on the cross for it. In the realization of this I began to feel lighter. The heaviness no longer weighed me down. The truth had set me free. My belief in Christ soared to a new level. My trust deepened and I felt safe in His presence but then I learned how to carry His presence with me wherever I go. We have no control over anything that happens in our life, but we do have a choice on how we will maneuver through it. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will be closer to your breakthrough. People may connect a breakthrough to receiving material things and some people may get blessed in that manner. Breakthrough in its truest form for me is elevating in The Spirit. A shift in the mindset and a riff in the present thought process. There will be things you will no longer desire to do especially if it calls you out of God's will He has over your life.

Taking the leap of faith and recognizing when God is calling you to act.

When God calls you to act its just like Jeremiah said, it is like fire in your bones. When you have truly crossed over the desire to look back diminishes. We do not want to be like Lot's wife and look back. It means death for us spiritually or even physically. Again, I hear the song saying, "No turning back, No turning back." We do not understand how much is deposited in us as children, things we thought would not be remembered but is recalled in a whisper or a flash in your mind of the moment of occurrence in your life. You begin to feel the gentle nudges of The Holy Spirit telling you to keep going and you better keep going.

Overcoming the barriers to action.

Soar high on wings like an eagle looking straight ahead and trusting God to see you through so when thoughts of doubt surface replace it with the promises of God. When you say to yourself, I do not know if I could do this The Word of God says I will never leave you nor forsake you. The Word of God says have I not commanded you be strong and courageous do not be afraid or discouraged for The Lord our God is with you wherever you go. In all honesty, your biggest obstacle will be yourself. When you began to understand how powerful the God, we serve is there is nothing you cannot do. If people just happen to be your problem than take it to God in prayer and watch how He turns it around.

What does faith in action look like?

One foot in front of the other is what Faith looks like. Keep moving forward. God is not a man that he should lie. His Word is the Truth! If He said it, then He will do it and in turn you do what He has told you to do. Let your Faith come alive and activated by The Word of God. We have a work to do in preparation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When God revealed Himself to me it was the beginning of the works, I knew He would do in me. My faith was not strong at the time, but I knew He was speaking to me. My faith began to grow as I began to believe in the promises of God.

Anchor yourself in God's Word.

Study and show yourself approved. We must equip ourselves with the Armor of God so that we are prepared for when the enemy tries to rise, but we know we will be victorious because of the God we serve. When you study ask God for understanding so the words began to leap off the paper. The Bible says, and the truth shall set you free. The Word of God is Truth, and it will set you free. When you encounter God in His Word, and you feel His presence it is like nothing I can describe but sheer bliss. My soul leaps each time I find myself there. It will keep you running to Him to be filled up.

I pray this has encouraged you, inspired you, and most importantly set you on the path to do deeper in your relationship with Jesus Christ for He is the way, the truth, and the life.
